Sharing a car from Lahore to Islamabad-Rawalpindi
The road trip from Lahore to Islamabad-Rawalpindi covers 380 km and takes roughly 5.0 hours at a steady motorway pace, before stops. The route carries about Rs 1500 in motorway tolls, which is shared between everyone in the car along with the fuel.
Drivers on Hopin post trips they are already making and passengers pay a share of what the journey actually costs. There is no commission, no booking fee and no surge — the per-seat figure is the trip's fuel and toll divided by the seats on offer. For this route that works out at roughly Rs 4184 per seat in a typical sedan carrying 3 passengers.

How the price is worked out
Hopin computes each seat from three inputs: the road distance, the driver's fuel mileage as we measured it during in-person verification, and the current petrol price. Fuel cost is distance ÷ mileage × petrol price; the toll is added if the driver includes it; the total is divided by the seats offered.
A driver can choose to charge less — down to half the calculated figure — but the system will not let anyone charge more. There is a fuller worked example in our breakdown of what an intercity trip really costs.
